The hostess made us feel like we were special guests "in our own home". The boiled crayfish, crabs, and shrimp were wonderful and spicy! We plan to visit, again.

Description of Surrounding Area

There are many local attractions in and around the area. Laurel Valley Plantation is within minutes, as is Madewood Plantaion, Oak Alley, and Laura Plantation. Zam's Swamp Tours and Torres Swamp Tours are a few miles down the road. Antique stores and gift shops are conveniently located. La Tour golf course is available for avid golfers and just 5 minutes away. A Chateau on the Bayou B&B is an ideal base for travelers who want to experience Cajun life to the fullest! It is perfectly located for every traveler's dream; only 30 minutes from the New Orleans airport, 5 minutes from Mathews, 10 minutes from Thibodaux, and 15 minutes from Houma, Larose, and Luling.

This country victorian home is located right on the banks of Bayou Lafourche. The setting is absolutely stunning! You can rest in the hammock and watch the bayou flow slowly by or rock in the comfortable rockers on the back porch facing the bayou. Watch the water birds searching the floating vegetation for food. Catch sight of a bald eagle soaring over the bayou where fish are jumping. Catch a glimpse of an alligator raise its head above water or an egret perched on the wharf. Hear the sounds of birds, crickets, owls, and bullfrogs.

Description of Rooms/Suites

All 4 rooms are non-smoking. Three rooms have a double or queen sized bed along with a twin bed. One room has a single twin bed. All beds have extremely comfortable mattresses and are very quiet and peaceful. These are 2 qualities that I look for when reserving a room.
All rooms have flat panel TV/DVD players and a work area with a desk for your laptop computer.

Amenities

Free fast speed wireless internet throughout. Workout equipment available. Use of the laundry facilities.
There are many restaurants within minutes; most of them being Cajun and seafood restauants, but there are Mexican, Chinese, Japanese, Thai, and Italian restaurants, also. There are night clubs, casinoes, and places to listen and dance to Cajun music.

Services Offered

A professional massage therapist can provide a one hour full body massage for $40 upon prior reservation.

Smoking is permitted in outdoor areas.

Preferably, no pets.

Children are welcome.

Rates & Availability

Single (one person to a room) $65 per night.

Double (couple) $75 per night.

There is a $20 additional charge per person in the same room.

There is a $15 additional charge for children under the age of 13.

Your innkeeper will be Claudette L. Pitre, a native Cajun, born here in Lafourche Parish.

She is a retired elementary school counselor and teacher who has worked with Kindergarten through third grade children and parents.

She has traveled the world extensively and welcomes all nationalities to her home.

Directions

Coming from New Orleans (30 minutes from the N. O. airport):

Upon exiting the N. O. airport, turn right on Ailine Hwy.
Exit Airline Hwy. at Boutte on Hwy. 310, South.
Travel approximately 10 miles, merge onto US 90 West towards Houma.
Travel US 90 for about 15-20 minutes.
Take Exit 215B which leads into Hwy. 308.
Turn right on Hwy. 308 and travel West for 6 miles.
A Chateau on the Bayou B&B is located on the left side at 3158 Hwy. 308, Raceland, LA.

Coming from Houma:

If you are coming from Houma on US 90, you will take Exit 210 (Raceland/Houma)
This leads you straight to Hwy. 182.
Turn right on Hwy. 182 and travel East for 3.5 miles until you get to a bridge.
Go straight and cross over the bridge. (dead end)
Turn left on Hwy. 308 and travel 3.1 miles.
A Chateau on the Bayou B&B is located on the left side at 3158 Hwy. 308, Raceland, LA.
