Active Adventure

First Light is a small company based out of London with a mission to provide unique, distinctive and affordable bike and walking tours at a high level of service. We offer 3 - 12 day tours for young families, leisure, avid and club level cyclists and cycle tourers. Self-guided and guided tours operate in the UK, Czech Republic, Austria, France, Italy, Poland, Hungary, Slovakia and soon Spain. We also offer Italian bike training weeks for avid club riders. Distances are from 10 -15 miles for young families, 25 - 35 miles for leisure cyclists and 50 - 80 miles for experienced cyclists.

Typical Day

On guided tours your guides will brief you by 8:30 and we typically get on the road by 9am. We offer a flexible approach and cater to each cyclist's preferences and needs. On offer each day are stops at attractions, monasteries, castles, villages and other interesting spots, along with picnics and lunches in quaint villages. Most guests spend 3-5 hours on the bike, usually ending their cycling day by 2-3pm. On many tours we offer private guided walks in the towns where we stay over and there's plenty of time to explore on your own each day.

Age range, type of group

Our guests range from 2 - 78 with most in the 30 - 60 age group. With proper fitness, age really isn't a factor and the tours are designed longer and shorter mile options to choose from. There's always a van nearby, which offers support if needed and our guides are Western and English speaking, as well as being very knowledgable about the area, its history an culture.
We cater to professionals, families with young and teenage children, couples and seniors at all cycling levels. Our groups never number more than 14 guests, so we can provide a very high level of service and support.

Sleeping and meals

Depending on the tour, you will find yourself in 3-5 star accommodation, in the center of the old town squares, in converted monasteries, convents, water mills, chateaux or country lodges. Our lodging is chosen with the upmost care, as are the restaurants we frequent, which are the best in the area and hand picked by Briand, the owner of the company. On self-guided tours, you can expect 2-4 star chambre d'hotes, inns, B&Bs, hotels or sharp pensions. All are rated and the best in the area.

Guided tours include: 2 trip guides, van support, custom-built Cannondale hybrid and sport racing bikes, helmets, 3-4 star lodging, all breakfasts, most lunches and most dinners, luggage transfer, maps, detailed route plans, transfers within the tour, access to attractions and incredible service at an affordable price.

First Light is happy to custom create a tour for your group, a private party or individually. For self guided tours, you're able to go any day, May to October, with as few as 1 person.
