Surrounding Area
Deer Isle is an isolated island off the coast of Maine very dependant on the ocean and what it provides. The main industry is lobstering and fishing. The locals are a combination of "Old Salts" and creative cultures. The Arts hold a very important place on the Island and are reflected in our many original galleries and shops. We also support a local performing center, school of crafts and an Opera House.
Boating, hiking, biking and wildlife viewing are the main activities surrounding this area.
Vacation Rental Property
The antique Cape was built in 1890 by Charles Parker of Boston. My grandfather, Gerald Warner Brace, purchased the estate from the Parkers in 1935. The property is an entire point of land with 830 ft of deep ocean frontage and two private beaches. The main house faces west for incredible panoramic views of East Penobscot Bay and the Camden Hills.
Dozens of yachts and schooners, as well as local lobster boats, pass by daily. The frontage has the only deep water anchorage from the Deer Isle Bridge to SW Harbor and is ideal for boating. There is a foot bridge leading to an out haul ladder and mooring for easy access to boats at any tide.

My grandfather was a teacher, writer, artist, and sailor. His paintings and ship models are displayed throughout the house and his novels line the book shelves. He was devoted to New England and wrote about life on the coast.
The stables have been gently converted into a cabin that sleep five with its own kitchen and bath facilities. The four bedroom main house remains relatively unchanged since its beginnings in 1890 and most of the furniture and house wares are the original items conveyed with the sale in 1935.
The home and point of land give one a feeling of stepping back in time to a kinder age. No matter what your escaping from, you will find sanctuary here.
